About the Author
Joan Saslow is the author of a number of textbook series for adults and young adults, including "Ready to Go," "Workplace Plus," and "Literacy Plus," She was also the Series Director of "True Colors: An EFL Course for Real Communication," and of "True Voices," an EFL video course. Ms. Saslow's special interest is in distinguishing the needs of the EFL and ESL learner and creating materials appropriate for each. Ms. Saslow has taught in Chile and the United States in a variety of programs, including binational centers, academic programs, intensive language programs, and workplace programs. Ms. Saslow has been an editor, a teacher-trainer, a language learner, and a frequent speaker at gatherings of English teachers throughout the world. Allen Ascher, formerly Director of the International English Language Institute at Hunter College, has been a teacher, teacher-trainer, author, and publisher. He has taught in language and teacher-training programs in both China and the United States. Mr. Ascher has an MA in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University. Mr. Ascher is author of "Think About Editing: A Grammar Editing Guide for ESL Writers," As a publisher, he played a key role in the creation of some of the most widely used materials for adults. I really liked this book because it gives everything you may want to achieve: writing native apps (iOS, Windows Phone or Android) or cross-platform apps. All the example apps are different this means you get ideas to try with the platform / solution you choose to try out (for example you want to develop with Ruby Motion but you take the steps from the Xamarin chapter's calculator app).

What I really loved was the chapter about Mobile Web development: this is something everyone can achieve who knows web development -- and the solution is cross-platform.

Jung does this by identifying the archetypal unconscious as the source of all religions now working toward a religious sentiment of more universal sympathy. This book identifies the dependence of both on German mysticism as a common ancestry and concludes with a reflection on how their joint perspective might affect religious education and the relation of religion to science and technology.

Throughout the book, John Dourley looks back to the roots of both men's ideas about mediaeval theology and Christian mysticism making it ideal reading for analysts and academics in the fields of Jungian and religious studies.

About the Author

John Dourley is Professor Emeritus, Department of Religion, at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He graduated as a Jungian analyst from the Zurich/Kusnacht Institute and has published widely on Jung and religion.

Worth the Effort

John Dourley's study of Tillich and Jung is not easy reading. It is dense, complex and detailed, comparing the understanding of the human being, human destiny, God and history in the writings of Paul Tillich the theologian and Carl Jung the psychologist. But it is rich with insight of the kind that makes for goosebumps.

Because both Tillich and Jung drew upon and appropriated the visionary work of Christian mystics, especially Meister Eckhart and Jacob Boehme, but also Joachim di Fiore and the Beguines, Dourley provides a bonus in his discussions of these figures. He shows in detail how Tillich's thought evolved from his monumental Systematic Theology to the last days of his life, how Jung progressively revealed his deepest thinking, and how they converged and yet remained apart. More than anyone else, Dourley has shown why both reached beyond the Trinity to a quaternity and why both thought doing so is imperative (and unavoidable) in the growth of humanity.

This book collects a number of essays delivered as papers in various places. Even though revised, they can be just a little repetitive, but given the wealth of complexity in both thinkers, even where issues are addressed a second time, the insights are new, the angles of view are different, and the reminders are valuable.

Anyone who wishes to deeply plum the most fundamental concerns of either Tillich or Jung will find this book rewarding. And anyone who has contemplated the future of humanity and of the individual will discover a great deal to consider.

For those of us who will probably never read, much less deeply study, the theology of Tillich or the collected works of Jung, this book is an eye-opening discovery. Dourley has done a great service that deserves to be more widely known.

Sebastian Terry is the single-most unjaded "bloke" ever....that is simply following his heart. He takes you on his travels around the world, introduces you to one interesting character after another, and keeps you entertained with his quick, honest wit. He also encourages you, the reader, to consider what is important to you, as well. What'on YOUR list?

Please take the time to buy and read a copy of Sebastian Terry's 100 Things, as you will not regret it and you will be helping the amazing Camp Quality cause! Not only is the book so amazingly well written and easy to read, it is utterly captivating. The story of Sebastian Terry's 100 Things adventure will make you laugh, gasp, cry and even cringe at times, but mostly it is just so inspiring. The message that Sebastian is trying to get out there is so much deeper than 'make a list of crazy things to do' - it is about living life as the universe intended you to live it. Story after story illustrates how everything can fall into place if you have the courage to just let it happen. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to experience Sebastian Terry's amazing 100 Things journey documented in this book. Such a great read by Sebastian. It really made me consider what was important and the kind of satisfaction I'm looking for in life! His stories are funny, humbling and some outright crazy! I have started my own list of 100 Things.... Thanks for the motivation, and good on you for sticking with your guns and helping Camp Quality in the process!
