I really liked this book because it gives everything you may want to achieve: writing native apps (iOS, Windows Phone or Android) or cross-platform apps. All the example apps are different this means you get ideas to try with the platform / solution you choose to try out (for example you want to develop with Ruby Motion but you take the steps from the Xamarin chapter's calculator app).
What I really loved was the chapter about Mobile Web development: this is something everyone can achieve who knows web development -- and the solution is cross-platform.

This book is pure gold when it comes to getting onboard with 7 different technologies quickly with a very practical approach. I would highly recommend this book to people. The way the author walks through building the apps in each framework he picks is very verbose and intuitive.
