Nina Simon has been described as a “museum visionary” by Smithsonian Magazine for her audience-centered approach to design. She is the Executive Director of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, where she led an institutional turnaround based on grassroots community participation. Nina is the best-selling author of The Participatory Museum, The Art of Relevance, and the popular Museum 2.0 blog. Previously, Nina worked as an independent consultant and exhibition designer with over one hundred museums and cultural centers around the world. Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, NPR, and TEDx. Nina began her career at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.

If you work with groups of people at all (audiences, customers, communities, whatever) you should read this book.

Nina Simon does a fantastic job of talking about how people relate to each other and find meaning with clear, strong arguments. It's very tempting, when writing about deep cultural or aesthetic experiences, to overdo it, or to get sloppy with your terms, your thinking, or your argument. Many people writing about this stuff end up declaring that their way is the solution to all of your problems.

This book talks about tricky, elusive, powerful experiences that change lives. But it does it without overstepping the impact that a museum, or any organization you happen to work at, can actually have.

Also the stories are great and the examples concrete. You can learn a lot of useful things on your own terms just from the anecdotes included to illustrate the author's points.

If I were teaching marketing, this is the textbook I would use.

The seven day sleep system

This does work and I am amazed. I really did not believe that is would work but it does. I have been working on third shift for almost ten years straight and I have not had a decent nights sleep as a fact I can only sleep about three hours maybe four hours if I am lucky. I even have to use an oxygen machine while I sleep but that is changing for me with is system. I say try it out for yourself and see what it can do for you.

Advait Did It Again!

Excellent book on how to cure sleeplessness. Straight to the point, with easy illustrations, Mudras and Ajurvedic healing herbs. I love this book, just like all the other books i did read by Mr. Advait. He knows his Mudras, Healing herbs and he truly wants to help you to get better and healtier. I do recommend it to anybody who wants to have a healthier, better life. Thank you. Eva Blomert

* Suggestions for appropriate representations for those specific mathematical ideas, including equations, drawings, and manipulatives.
* Suggestions for explaining ideas to students.
*Cautions about misconceptions or situations to avoid.

This accessible book provides math teachers with support for differentiated instruction. Math coaches can use it to assist teachers with their transition to the Common Core State Standards. All teachers will find it helpful to see the mathematical fraction learning that precedes and follows the grades that they teach. It is also an excellent text for preservice teachers as they prepare themselves and their students to understand and teach math with a deep level of understanding.

The only book the industry newcomer will need!

Anoyne who has enjoyed even minor success in the entertainment industry will agree that a personal acting career is nothing short of running a business. Without creating a structured business plan, recognizing pitfalls before they occur, solidifying a method for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative results and developing a strategy for continually moving forward, the newcomer has already stacked the deck against their favor.

I am one of the lucky individuals who found Carolyne Barry early in my career. Her lessons not only helped me to cultivate a vastly successful commercial acting career, they also forced me to look at myself introspectively and find my own inspiration from within. The professional actor walks a treacherous road and Carolyne Barry's lessons have been best traveling mates that I've found.

The fact that her wisdom is now available in a single book is amazing! I happily and wholeheartedly recommend Carolyne Barry's book, "Hit The Ground Running." It belongs in every working actor's toolbox.

Devotion to Actors: She Cares.

This book is an invaluable resource for actors who want to WORK in the biz in LA... especially if you want to earn some good money doing commercials. I have taken classes from Carolyne Barry. I have experienced her books, cds, and online products. What I can say... my experience is that she deeply cares about her students and she is GREAT at what she does. I find that if a person really cares... if they really love their students, everything else falls into place. She cares. she cares enough to tell you the truth even if you don't want to hear it... because it will help you. She cares enough to spend an unbelievable amount of time improving the materials and courses that she gives the her students. if you haven't read her book or watched the videos on her [...] websites, check out those amazing resources! An absolute must!

I am an actor who has been in LA for just over a year now, and my only regret is that I didn't read Carolyne's book before I arrived. The valuable information she shares is essential to have a chance in this competitive industry. Not only does Carolyne provide specific, in-touch information (w/ a timeline) based on over 30 years of experience as a successful actress, coach and casting professional, but she helps inspire the reader to reflect and develop the personal tools needed for success as well. It's rare to see such a savvy, strategic business mind coupled with such creative, artistic talent. The book covers everything from classes, training, planning, pictures and packaging to budgeting, organization and time management. I would HIGHLY recommend reading this book if you're a serious actor looking for real success.

About the Author
Dr. Robert K. Noyd is Professor of Biology at the U.S. Air Force Academy where he teaches botany, general biology, and senior seminar courses. He has 28 years teaching experience at the secondary, community college, small college, university, and service academy levels of education. In addition to his classroom teaching, his background includes faculty development, biology research, editorial book development, and medical sales. An educational innovator, he authored The Microbial Profile (McGraw-Hill), a book that takes students through creating an integrated profile of a microorganism. Robert traces his teaching philosophical roots to Dr. David Ausubel and his assimilation theory of meaningful learning and uses his methods of advance organizers and concept maps in his classes. Robert's teaching accomplishments have led him to guide the teaching and learning of other faculty. He recently served as the Academy's Director of Faculty Development from 2004-2007 directing the professional development of the Academy's 550 faculty members.

Dr. Jerome A. Krueger is a Biological Scientist and Planning Staff Officer for the Bitterroot National Forest with the U.S. Forest Service. Dr. Krueger has 15 years of university teaching experience along with 11 years teaching US Air Force technical training classes. His current academic affiliation is with the Bitterroot College, a satellite of the University of Montana where he works with the administration on curriculum development and teaching Botany. As an Associate Professor at South Dakota State University, he helped lead majors and non-majors Introductory Biology programs, as well as teaching a wide range of science courses and continuing education workshops to high school science teachers. During this time he served on two science education boards of directors and currently is the Science Advisor for the SD Discovery Center. While appointed to the faculty at the US Air Force Academy Dr. Krueger developed innovative science curriculum, led undergraduate research programs and taught a diverse offering of science courses including introductory biology.

Kendra Hill is a full time Instructor at the South Dakota State University currently teaching non-majors biology. In addition to teaching the non-majors course, Kendra also serves as the Lab Coordinator for all of the Introductory Biology Labs offered by South Dakota State University. In these positions, she provide Graduate Teaching Assistants fundamental skills and mentoring for teaching science labs. She has also taught Introductory Biology Labs for majors. In all of these classes, Kendra works hard to select material that the students are familiar with and thus can relate the biological concepts that are presented. In other words, Kendra views the instructor's role to help the students make the connection of biology and their everyday life. Prior to her academic career, Kendra worked as a Production Manager in the biotechnology industry for 12 years. Areas of responsibility focused on research reagents and included Microarrays, Custom Primer Production, Molecular Biology Reagent Kits and Packaging.
